Global Methyl Tin Mercaptide Market Expected To Reach 39000 Tons By 2017

The production capacity of global methyl tin mercaptide was estimated to reach about 30000 tons in 2012, and is expected to reach 39000 tons by 2017, growing at a CAGR of 5.3% from 2013 to 2017.
 
Methyl tin mercaptide is one of the three varieties of organotin. It is the most effective heat stabilizer of the processing of PVC plastic. Because of the high safety factor and good transparency, it is especially suitable for food wrap and rigid PVC products with high transparency, as well as for transparent film or bottles, PVC pipes and steel-plastic composite doors or windows.
Methyl Tin Mercaptide Heat Stabilizer (called 181 for short) is currently the plastic heat stabilizer with the most excellent performance, which is very effective for the rolling, extrusion, and injection molding of hard PVC. Moreover, it has been widely applied to plastic doors and windows, water pipes, decorating materials, so as to replace other plastic heat stabilizers that have high toxicity. Therefore it has been widely used in USA, Europe, Japan. Over the recent years, 181 has been applied in a large quantity. Because 181’s stability is much better than other organic tin stabilizer, the relevant products have better performance. So it has been widely welcomed by many large-scale PVC-processing enterprises, becoming the key adjuvant in the processing of hard PVC.

Compared with other types of heat stabilizers, comprehensive performance of methyl tin mercaptide is closer to the ideal of a heat stabilizer. But all organotin heat stabilizers, no matter what the structure is, the main drawback is the cost of manufacturing higher than lead salts and metal soaps complex. Although the price compared to other heat stabilizers higher, however, due to the relatively small amount, cost ratio in the share of products is fairly with the use of other heat stabilizers.
