Since the past few months, I am struggling with the game stutter. It's happening on all of my characters. The stuttering doesn't seem so "random" but rather often it is reactive all the time. I for instance, stutter each when I switch my weapons (2h to shield, and WOW TBC Classic Gold reverse). My rogue also allows stealth and I stutter when dropping combat. This can happen quite frequently particularly when there's plenty of activity like in raid environments. To test this, I disabled all add-ons. The results indicate that the stuttering appears to be lessfrequent, but it's still evident. This leads me to wonder what might be the cause. My PC is pretty good so there's no reason to believe it's the cause. Things I've tried is: turning off all addons and tweaking the video settings in game, reinstalling the game, flashing the latest bios, disabling hyperthreading. But nothing seems to help. What is the best way to solve this problem? It's really annoying. Imagine your screen turning blank each when you switch from shield to spell reflect.
Update After all the work I did and setting my FPS at an amount that kept the card at less than a 50% load, I was still experiencing flickering when I ran a Kara raid last night. So I shut down Freesync completely and that seemed to resolve the problem.
I disabled it on the monitors themselves, both are of the same brand, albeit different sizes/models, and the AMD GPU settings. It seems like this has solved the problem. We'll see whether any additional issues pop up.
Original Post The reason I'm here is that I've been experiencing problems with flickering, but I'm not sure to declare it full in studdering. But for some time. It's always changing which has created an absolute nightmare to resolve. The issue was getting to the point that it was taking me by surprise, so I decided to research.
Short story, it is only recently that Windows allowed multiple monitors' refresh rates to function after almost 13 years, Microsoft seems to have fixed a commonly-discussed issue regarding how Windows deals with multi-monitor refresh rates. Till now, Windows 10's Desktop Window Manager (DWM) caused stutters and frame-skips when operating multiple monitors at different refresh rates. Windows 10 2004 20H1's DWM is able to support hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling as of WDDM 2.7 has finally appeared to have solved the issue, as confirmed by a user on Reddit.
