Greater interest in determining heat distribution on nano-level inspires improved design

The need to explore the world beyond the barriers of conventional microscopes inspired the development of the atomic force microscope. When this advanced solution entered the commercial market back in the 1980s, it opened doors to further research. As this research developed, the need to be able to explore samples in even greater depth arose. Today, this need is leaning towards determining heat distribution in nanoparticles and once again, the team at Park Systems shows themselves to be reliable by offering the most advanced technology to the world of science.

“We developed our scanning thermal microscopy to explore the thermal attributes of particles on a nanoscale level. Our device relies on thermal probes that contain several resistive features and this manages to achieve high thermal and spatial resolution. We offer the option in two modes. Temperature Contrast Microscopy enables researchers to measure the variations in temperature on the surface of the research sample. The other is Conductivity Contrast Microscopy that aids in finding the thermal conductivity that takes place on a sample surface,” Kiebock Lee, the president to the global leader in the field expands on their scanning thermal microscopy options.

Lee then further expands on how the probe is the key to their success in the development of this highly effective and accurate advanced solution. The tip serves a dual purpose. It is both a resistance thermometer and an AFM tip. He provides a simple explanation stating that the advanced tip changes its charge according to the surface temperature of the sample. Researchers can then read the results from the Wheatstone bridge.
“The development of these solutions was quite intense. We’ve had several trial runs using a variety of options such as etching wire, but these just didn’t deliver the thermal and spatial resolution we needed for the accuracy we wanted to deliver with our solution. Yet, throughout we remained true to the character of our founder, Dr Park, during the years when he was so closely involved in the development of the first AFM at Stanford University. It was his commitment to excellence and his creative thinking to bring forth solutions setting the benchmark in the industry that continued to drive us forward until we could release perfection into the commercial market,” Lee continued.

It is this kind of outstanding solutions and advanced sophistication in all this team delivers that makes the brand a reputable name on a global scale.

About Us :

Park Systems is one of the leaders in the field when it comes to atomic force microscopes. The amount of time and funding our elite team puts into research and development is ensuring that our range of advanced solutions are remaining at the edge. Our developments are often the main characters to drive growth in the field forward as our experts continue to set new benchmarks in the field. Our mission is to maintain the same outstanding results as that what our founder delivered when he was part of the team central to the development of the initial AFM.
